Deceptively unassuming, this West Hampstead Iranian is a hidden gem. Don’t let the understated decor put you off, Hana may lack the opulent decor favoured by many of London’s Persian restaurants, but we like to think it’s because it lets the food do the talking. The traditional Iranian fare is as authentic as it gets – think crisp and chewy Lavash bread, pearly rice with charred meats, silky stews and thick, sour yogurts. If you like your food with a kick slather it all in Hana’s hot sauce – punchy and garlicky with a fiery kick. You won’t be winning any kisses after an evening eating the stuff, but it still tastes bloody good.
