There’s a lime-scented retro feel to this lively bar-cum-restaurant which hums at night with young media types, most of whom probably last tasted ceviche on their gap years. Totes reliving the glory days without the scuzzy hostels at the end of the night – improvement, natch. The noise and hustle won’t be for everyone, but the top-notch ceviche more than makes up for it. Don’t miss the signature ‘Don Ceviche,’ not least because the name’s hilarious, but also because the combo of fresh sea bass and tangy tiger’s milk is just awesome. The other dishes (Peruvian classics like quinoa and anticuchos) have been adapted for English palates and can be a bit hit and miss so stick to the fish if you want to play it safe. The noise and authentically uncomfortable chairs mean this is not a place to linger, unless you’re slamming the rather tasty pisco sours so get your order in pronto.
