Media types and hipsters flock to the Soho House set’s achingly trendy pizza joint in Shoreditch for their fluffy wood-fire oven dough and seasonal flavours. The atmosphere is convivial, though it can get a bit loud so if it’s intimate conversation you want, give this one a miss. The place has a painfully cool warehouse vibe to it, not that you’d expect anything less. Still, the food is refreshingly simple – damn good pizza. It comes with exciting toppings too – think veal meatballs with prosciutto and cream or soppressata, burrata tomato and olives. Sit at one of the giant wooden centrepiece tables to soak up all the atmosphere or head down to the basement bar for karaoke and the occasional pop up. The young and trendy tend to ram the place out, so be sure to book. Still, if you do decide to stick a wait out, the bar is none too shabby and there’s prime people watching to be had. Sister branches in Portobello and Kentish Town are a bit more family-oriented so the Shoreditch set can be sure of somewhere to go when they grow up.
