Self-consciously unpretentious, the food at this Soho oyster bar and restaurant is as simple as the style. This means sumptuously fresh seafood platters washed down with great bottles of wine. The decor is bang on trend, mixing antiquey woods with tiled floors and exposed lighting. Sitting at the oyster bar and watching the chefs at work is the most fun, especially if you’re dining solo, but if there’s more than 2 of you, one of the tables upstairs or out in the charming Kingly Court makes for an equally convivial setting. If you’re not going for fresh shellfish, the options are hearty fish soups and pies and excellent moules mariniere (also very good washed down with plenty of wine – dunno if you’re sensing a trend here). There’s another branch in Borough Market if you’re in the area, which though much smaller is equally good fun.
